Hershey Bears News Release

HERSHEY wins on the road in the 11th round of a shootout with the Lowell Lock Monsters to win for the 26th time this season. The 4-3 win splits the season series with the Monsters at one game apiece. Lowell would strike first at the 12:25 mark of the first period when Mike Zigomanis scored his 19th goal of the season from Chad Larose and Bruno St. Jacques. HERSHEY would generate just two shots against Lock Monster goaltender Brent Krahn in the first period and trailed 1-0 at first intermission.

HERSHEY got the second period underway when Chris Bala scored his eighth goal of the season at the 4:22 mark. Bala slid a puck underneath Lowell goaltender Brent Krahn to tie the game at one. Lowell struck next with an unassisted goal from Richie Regehr at 13:16 of the second to regain the lead at 2-1, but Nick Naumenko would convert on a HERSHEY power play at the 17:08 mark of the period. Naumenko's blast was his sixth goal of the season, and it tied the game at two before second intermission.

In the third period, Lowell's Ryan Bayda gave the Monsters the lead again with his 10th goal of the season to break the tie and give Lowell a 3-2 lead. Mathieu Darche then scored his team leading 19th goal of the season at the 17:35 mark of the third to force overtime. After a scoreless sudden death period, the BEARS won the game in the 11th round of a shootout when Eric Perrin scored and Lowell's Zigomanis was denied by Peter Budaj. Budaj establishes a new career high in wins with his 19th of the year.

The BEARS travel to Wilkes-Barre to face the Penguins Friday night at 7:05 p.m. before returning home to face the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at GIANT Center Saturday evening. Face-off Saturday night is set for 7:00 p.m., with tickets still available through the GIANT Center box office or by calling (717) 534-3911.
