Indianapolis Indians News Release

PAWTUCKET, RI - The Indianapolis Indians smashed three home runs and topped the Pawtucket Red Sox on Friday night, 8-1. It was the Tribe's sixth consecutive win. Max Moroff hit the club's first grand slam of the season to assist in the rout.

Indianapolis (31-27) jumped out to an early lead with a pair of runs in the second inning. Erich Weiss led off with an infield hit, and Jerrick Suiter doubled one batter later. Pablo Reyes singled home Weiss for the game's first run, and Suiter later scored on a sacrifice fly.

Moroff's big swing came in the third inning. Jose Osuna and Weiss reached on singles, while Jacob Stallings was aboard via a free pass. Moroff belted his grand slam out of McCoy Stadium, as it sailed over signage above the right-field wall. It was Indy's first grand slam since Danny Ortiz achieved the feat at Gwinnett on July 23 of last season.

Kevin Kramer and Stallings continued the homer party against Pawtucket (27-31). Kramer led off the fourth inning with his team-leading eighth blast of the season. Stallings started the seventh inning with his first long ball of the year.

Tribe starter Clay Holmes (4-3) fired six innings and allowed just one run. He struck out seven batters and walked only two. Holmes has now struck out at least seven batters in four of his last five starts.

The Indians go for their seventh win in a row on Saturday against the PawSox, first pitch is set for 6:15 pm. The Tribe returns to Victory Field on Monday to face the Toledo Mud Hens.
