From the Notes

ABOUT YESTERDAY: The Tribe extended their winning streak to five games with an 8-0 shutout yesterday to complete a three-game sweep over the Red Wings in Rochester. The Indians slashed 13 hits against Rochester pitching, including home runs by Christopher Bostick and Max Moroff. Moroff's second homer with the Tribe this season came during a three-run second inning; it immediately followed a Wyatt Mathisen RBI double. Bostick's blast then opened the third to make it 4-0, and the Indians doubled their lead with four more runs in the fifth. Jose Osuna, Mathisen and Ryan Lavarnway logged run-scoring singles in that frame. J.T. Brubaker benefitted from the run support, tossing six innings and scattering five hits and four walks with four strikeouts. Bostick and Jordan Luplow led Indy's offense with three hits apiece. Josh Smoker and Jesus Liranzo completed the Indians' eighth shutout and first sweep of 2018 with three scoreless innings combined.

HIGH FIVE: Indy carries a season-high five-game winning streak into tonight's series opener in Pawtucket. In 2017, they put together three streaks of five-plus wins in a row, their longest reaching eight games from May 16-21. Indianapolis also had a six-game winning streak from May 6-11 and a five-gamer from Aug. 10-15. That five-game streak last August also came against IL North Division foes (4 vs. SYR, 1 @ BUF). The Tribe are batting .318 (56-for-176) with 35 runs scored (7.0 per game) during their current winning streak. They've slugged eight home runs, 13 doubles and swiped four bases, averaging 11.2 hits per contest. On the mound during the streak, Indy owns a 0.80 ERA (4 ER/45.0 IP) and 1.07 WHIP, having scattered 28 hits and 20 walks with 42 strikeouts.

SO MANY SHUTOUTS: The Indians have racked up three shutouts during their current five-game winning streak. Indy hadn't posted that many shutouts in a week since having four in a six-game stretch from April 29-May 4, 2016. The Indians blanked Norfolk 3-0 and 4-0 in games one and three of their series on April 29 and May 1 at The Vic. The Tribe then held Durham scoreless in the final two games of their series on May 3 and May 4, 1-0 (12 innings) and 6-0. The Indians finished sec-ond in the IL that year with 19 shutouts, behind only Scranton/W-B (24). Indianapolis is tied with Lehigh Valley for the most shutouts in the IL this season with eight.

DRY JUNE: Both Indianapolis and Pawtucket have kept their opponents in check in the month of June. The Indians lead the league this month with a 1.33 ERA (8 ER/54.0 IP), and the PawSox sit second -- well behind the Tribe -- with a team ERA of 2.60 (15 ER/52.0 IP). Opponents are batting just .196 (37-for-189) against Indians pitchers this month compared to a .255 average (55-for-200) against the PawSox.

NEVERAUSKAS RECALLED: Right-handed reliever Dovydas Neverauskas was recalled by Pittsburgh this afternoon in place of Richard Rodriguez who hit the 10-day DL with right shoulder discomfort. Neverauskas, 25, returns to the Pirates where he recorded a 10.80 ERA (8 ER/6.2 IP) and a .367 average against (11-for-30) in seven appearances this season. The Lithuanian was outstanding with the Tribe, recording a 1-2 record, 1.17 ERA (3 ER/23.0 IP), 31 strikeouts against 11 walks and a .143 average against (11-for-77).
