Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club is proud to announce the selection of defenceman Reese Hamilton with the fourth overall pick in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft. The Prospects Draft is for 2007-born players from the four western provinces and select U.S states.
Hamilton, a product of Whitewood Saskatchewan, played with the Northern Alberta Xtreme U15 during the 2021-22 season. The 5'11", 150-pound defenceman finished the year with 54 points (12g, 42a) in 27 games.
"Reese is a modern day defenceman, a smooth skater with a good stick who can skate and pass out of trouble." said Garry Davidson, Director of Player Personnel. "He checks all our boxes and will be a great addition to our back end and team."
The last time the Calgary Hitmen had the fourth overall pick was in 2018 when they selected Anaheim Ducks prospect Sean Tschigerl, who has played the last four seasons with Calgary. Today's draft continues online at 2022 WHL Prospects Draft and is hosted by the WHL Office.
More than 100 Hitmen draft picks have gone on to play for the franchise including: Oliver Tulk (2020), David Adaszynski (2020), Carter Yakemchuk (2020), Sean Tschigerl (2018), Tyson Galloway (2018), Brayden Peters (2017), Riley Fiddler-Schultz (2017), Cael Zimmerman (2016), Mark Kastelic (2014), Beck Malenstyn (2013), Colby Harmsworth (2010), Cody Sylvester (2007), Martin Jones (2005), Brett Sonne (2004), Karl Alzner (2003), Ryan Getzlaf (2000) and Johnny Boychuk (1999).
