Raiders Draft Luke Moroz in First Round of 2022 WHL Prospects Draft

Prince Albert, Sask. - The Prince Albert Raiders drafted 2007-born forward Luke Moroz in the first round of the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft on Thursday morning.
Moroz, a product of Grand Coulee, Sask., scored 47 goals, 61 assists and 108 points in 27 games for the Prairie Storm from Balgonie to lead the Saskatchewan U15 AA Hockey League in both points and assists. Moroz also added 15 goals and 27 points in seven playoff games with the storm. Moroz is listed at 5'08, 143 pounds, and is a left-handed centreman.
"He fits exactly to what we want to do. He's a high IQ player, he sees the play before it's going and the puck always seems to find him-quick decision maker," Raiders director of player personnel Bruno Zarillo said. "He'll be an elite forward as he ages and matures through our program. He just fits so well with what we drafted in December. He's local, he's close to us and we're very honoured to have him come play for the Prince Albert Raiders."
The Raiders initially had the 10th overall pick, but traded down to the 15th overall pick after striking a deal with the Seattle Thunderbirds. The Raiders received the 15th pick, 60th overall pick (third round pick), and the 126th overall selection (sixth-round pick) from the Thunderbirds in exchange for the selection.
Last year, the Raiders selected a pair of forwards in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft, selecting Cole Peardon 13th overall and Ryder Ritchie 14th overall.
