Calgary Hitmen News Release

Lethbridge, AB - Sean Tschigerl scored his first career Western Hockey League hat-trick to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 7-2 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday night at ENMAX Centre.

The victory was the second in as many days for Calgary against their Central Division rivals following Friday's 6-3 home ice triumph.

Tied 1-1 after 20 minutes, the Hitmen were powered by a four goal second period where Cael Zimmerman broke a 2-2 tie triggering a stretch of five unanswered goals by the visitors.

Brandon Whynott, Zac Funk and Josh Prokop added the other Hitmen markers with Prokop recording two assists to finish with three points. Rookie defenceman Owen Palfreyman also chipped in a pair of helpers.

The Hurricanes, who received their scoring from Liam Kindree and Chase Wheatcroft, actually outshot the Hitmen 29-27 but goaltender Jack McNaughton made 27 saves to pick up the win.

Calgary has now won a season high three games in a row to improve to 8-6-2-0. Lethbridge falls to 7-10-2-0.

The two teams will complete their three-game weekend set tomorrow, Sunday, April 25th at Seven Chiefs Sportsplex. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
