Swift Current Broncos News Release
Regina, Sask. - The Swift Current Broncos (5-16-1-0) bent but didn't break against the Regina Pats on Thursday, picking up a 4-2 win. Now they turn their attention to the Moose Jaw Warriors (8-12-2-0) Sunday afternoon as the schedule is down to just two games remaining.
Thursday the Broncos carried a 1-0 lead into the first intermission before the Pats scored twice on the power play in the middle frame. Swift Current pushed back with Michael Farren scoring a power-play goal of his own to tie the game at two heading into the third period.
Just moments after killing off a third Regina power play, Caleb Wyrostok scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal eight minutes into the third. Aiden Bulych hit the empty net while Reid Dyck turned aside 31 Pats shots for his third win of the season.
The Warriors are also coming off a game against the Regina Pats, though they fell 4-1 on Friday. Regina scored the game's first four goals before Cory King stopped the bleeding for Moose Jaw, though that was all the Warriors could muster in the loss.
Swift Current will be trying to even up the season series at two when they hit the ice on Sunday as the two teams have traded victories over the first three meetings.
The most recent meeting came on April 9, a game in which the Broncos pulled even with Moose Jaw in the second period 1-1, but the Warriors regained the lead just 11 seconds later and would add a pair of power-play goals en route to a 6-2 win.
Sunday is the second-last game of the season for the Broncos, who will be off Monday and Tuesday before the final game of the 2020-21 season Wednesday night against Prince Albert.
