Special Teams, Ross Power Pats to 4-1 Win

Regina Pats News Release
REGINA - Special teams and goaltending will win you a lot of hockey games.
Both were on display for the Regina Pats Friday night, as the Regiment skated to a 4-1 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors inside the Subway WHL Hub at the Brandt Centre.
Power play goals from Cole Dubinsky and Layton Feist, along with a shorthanded goal from Zack Smith provided the bulk of the offence, while netminder Roddy Ross stopped 30 shots to earn his sixth win of the season.
Regina's victory came a night after a disappointing 4-2 loss to the Swift Current Broncos, as the Pats moved into sole possession of fourth place in the East Division with 21 points.
"We talk a lot about energy givers and energy takers and right now our goaltending has been good. They should be giving us energy and we took it tonight," Pats head coach Dave Struch pointed out. "We needed (Roddy) in the first. You've got to give Moose Jaw lots of credit - they came hard. We were hemmed in lots, but Roddy made some good saves, and we had some good puck luck."
Along with aforementioned special teams goals, Drew Englot scored for the Pats - just 13 seconds after Feist's goal, with those two markers coming at 15:30 and 15:43 respectively in the second period.
"We've liked our special teams this year. Obviously we've had Connor, who's been a big part of it, but since he's been gone we've had some really good looks," Struch, who watched his team score both goals on the power play Thursday against Swift, explained.
Moose Jaw's lone goal of the night came in the third period after the Pats had gone up 4-0, as Cory King netted his second of the season.
"We're playing good. It sucks that we're doing it now, but it is what it is. It sucks we couldn't do it at the start, but it's nice to see this happening," said Ross of the Pats recent string of strong performances.
"It's really big that we're playing good now and it's a lot of fun."
Just two games remain for the Pats inside the East Division Hub, as a Sunday game against the Brandon Wheat Kings and then a Tuesday night matchup with the Winnipeg ICE will put the finishing touches on this most unique of seasons.
"It's something that we've learned to figure out this situation in order for us to play good," Ross said of adjusting to the Hub. "In the end it's been interesting. It means a lot - all the sacrifices that everyone did for this to happen. It's really huge and we're just making the most of it."
