LAST TIME OUT: Lynchburg dropped the final game of a four-game series against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on Sunday night in Myrtle Beach...DACE KIME took the mound for the Hillcats and allowed three runs on eight hits over five innings, earning his third loss of the season...LUIGI RODRIGUEZ got the Hillcats off to a hot start with a leadoff triple to left-center field and was driven home by newcomer LEVON WASHINGTON to take an early 1-0 lead...In the bottom half of the frame, Myrtle Beach responded with a two-run inning of its own...JEIMER CANDELARIO singled up the middle to score CHESNY YOUNG to tie the game and two batters later, VICTOR CARATINI hit a sacrifice fly to center field that scored PIN-CHIEH CHEN from third to put the Pelicans up 2-1...In the bottom of the third inning, the Pelicans padded their lead when CARLOS PENALVER singled past the shortstop to score CHEN for a 3-1 advantage...CLAYTON COOK took over in relief of KIME in the bottom of the sixth inning, but in the bottom of the seventh, he surrended a home run to JACOB ROGERS, his ninth of the year, to give the Pelicans a 4-1 lead they would hold through the end of the game...DAURY TORREZ only allowed the one run in the top of the first inning for the Pelicans...He went on to allow just four hits while striking out five as he picked up his fifth win of the season...

VS. WINSTON-SALEM: Lynchburg swept Winston-Salem in a four-game series in its only visit to City Stadium so far this year...It marked the first four-game series sweep by the Hillcats against the Dash since August 14-17, 2003...With four straight victories, the Hillcats are now 5-2 against the Dash this year...Lynchburg and Winston-Salem will meet a total of 16 times in 2015...1B NELLIE RODRIGUEZ is 12-for-24 against the Dash this season with three doubles, a triple, three home runs, nine RBIs and seven runs scored in seven games...His slugging percentage is 1.055, and his OPS is a staggering 1.655 versus Winston-Salem this season...Not far behind in production is C ALEX MONSALVE, who is 9-for-19 (.474) when facing the Dash with three doubles, a home run and eight RBIs in five games...His OPS in the season series checks in at 1.263...For Winston-Salem, All-Star C OMAR NARVAEZ is also 9-for-19 but does not have an extra-base hit with only two RBIs in five contests...

ONE'S NOT ENOUGH: OF LUIGI RODRIGUEZ has recorded multiple hits in each of his last four games...During that span, LUIGI is batting .500 (8-for-16) with two triples and three runs socred...Overall, LUIGI leads the team with 23 multi-hit efforts this season...However, "One's Not Enough" might also apply to the types of hits LUIGI is registering in 2015...The 22-year old is tied with his teammate NELLIE RODRIGUEZ for the league lead with 29 extra-base hits this year...LUIGI'S 10 home runs are the most of anyone on the circuit while his six triples match fellow Hillcat IVAN CASTILLO for the league's honors in that category...LUIGI'S slugging percentage of .512 leads all players currently in the Carolina League...

THE FUTURE IS HERE: OF BRADLEY ZIMMER has been named to the 2015 MLB Futures Game roster and will participate in the showcase for the United States team on July 12 at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati...ZIMMER joins Potomac Nationals pitcher LUCAS GIOLITO as the only other player from the Carolina League on either roster...The 22-year-old is the only member of the Cleveland system participating in the game...Through 65 games, ZIMMER'S nine home runs are tied for second in the Carolina League...  Zimmer is also tied for the league lead with 28 stolen bases, and he has scored 52 runs this season, which is eight more than anyone else on the circuit...

LEFT BEHIND: The Hillcats went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position Sunday....Over the past seven contests, the Hillcats are 14-for-76 (.184) with runners in scoring position and a staggering 1-for-14 (.071) with the bases loaded...On Saturday, Lynchburg managed to leave 18 men on base during a doubleheader...For the final week leading up to the All-Star Break, the 'Cats left 70 runners stranded, including a season-high 16 men on base Wednesday night in a nine-inning game against Potomac...Overall, the Hillcats have stranded double-digit baserunners in 12 contests this year and lead the league with 490 men left on base this season, which is an average of 7.0 per game...

EXTRA, EXTRA! With a triple by LUIGI RODRIGUEZ in the series finale Sunday, Lynchburg extended the lead in each type of extra-base hit in the Carolina League...The Hillcats have 134 doubles, 23 triples, and 49 home runs, which is the most in the league in each category...Overall this year, the Hillcats have 206 extra-base hits, which is 27 more than the second-best team in the league (Salem, 179)...Lynchburg has posted a .395 slugging percentage as a team...Individually, LUIGI RODRIGUEZ leads the circuit with 10 home runs, IVAN CASTILLO and LUIGI RODRIGUEZ each have six triples, and NELLIE RODRIGUEZ ranks second in the league with 19 doubles...Lynchburg's three All-Stars, BRADLEY ZIMMER, LUIGI RODRIGUEZ and NELLIE RODRIGUEZ all rank in the top five in the league in slugging percentage...

HOW MANY INNINGS IS REGULATION AGAIN? Lynchburg played its eighth doubleheader of the season Saturday and its fourth in the month of June alone...The only team with more twinbills this season is Myrtle Beach, who played its ninth doubleheader that same day...Lynchburg has been swept in four of its eight doubleheaders this year and swept two others...The 'Cats are 6-10 (.375) in double dips this year, which is the second-worst record in the Carolina League (Potomac, 3-7)...When also factoring in a rain-shortened contest and extra-inning affairs, 21 of Lynchburg's 70 first-half games (30 percent) were not completed in nine innings...Last year, the Hillcats only had a total of 23 games fail to be nine innings in length for the entire season, including a mere four doubleheaders...If the Hillcats play one more doubleheader this season, it will match the most in a year since the online database started tracking the statistic (2005)...The Hillcats played nine twinbills in 2013...

THIS DATE IN BASEBALL HISTORY: On June 25, 1985, after a Yankee bat boy is drilled by a line drive foul ball off the bat of Bronx Bomber catcher Butch Wynegar, the team mandates batboys working near the on-deck circle will be required to wear batting helmets. The new rule of having bat boys wearing a protective helmet while working will soon be adopted by all major league teams (Source: nationalpastime.com).
