Wilmington, DE-Washington Nationals number one overall Minor League prospect per Baseball America and MLB.com, RHP Lucas Giolito (1st round, 2012 MLB Draft; #16 overall) has been chosen to compete in the 2015 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, July 12th at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, OH.

Major League Baseball made the announcement today on MLB Network and on MLB.com. Major League Baseball in collaboration with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America, and the 30 Major League Clubs selected the 25-man rosters for both Team USA and Team World.

Giolito, 20, will represent Team USA in their clash against Team World for the second consecutive season, and the flamethrowing phenom will be joined by SS Trea Turner of the Double-A Harrisburg Senators on the All-Star Futures Game Team USA Roster.

Turner was the player to be named later in the three-team December, 2014 trade that also sent RHP Joe Ross to the Nationals while trade headliner, OF Wil Myers went from the Tampa Bay Rays to the San Diego Padres, and OF Steven Souza Jr. was sent by Washington to Tampa Bay.

Giolito (Baseball America's number seven overall prospect in MLB) has earned a (2-4) record with Potomac in 2015 to complement a 3.71 earned run average (18 earned runs in 43.2 innings pitched) in eight starts. The prospect ace of the P-Nats' pitching staff has fanned 57 batters and walked just 12 men without surrendering a home run this season.

Giolito was the Washington Nationals 2014 Minor League Pitcher of the Year after hurling to a (10-2) record and an organizational-best 2.20 ERA over 20 starts for the Class-A Hagerstown Suns a season ago. With Hagerstown, Giolito led Nationals farm arms with 110 strikeouts and after his campaign with the Suns, was named the "Most Outstanding Pitcher" and "Top Major League Prospect" in the South Atlantic League by MiLB.com.

Cleveland Indians top prospect, OF Bradley Zimmer (MLB.com's Cleveland Indians number three prospect; Baseball America's number two system prospect), is the only other current member of the Carolina League chosen to play in the 2015 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game.
