LAST TIME OUT: Lynchburg scored three runs in the first and never looked back, routing the Salem Red Sox 15-0...D.J. BROWN didn't allow a run in seven innings of pitching to earn the win....Six different Hillcats reached base at least three times as Lynchburg plated 15 runs for the first time since April 25, 2013... After arriving home from a three-game series at Wilmington in the early hours of the morning, the Hillcats showed no signs of fatigue as they jumped on the Red Sox in the very first inning...LUIGI RODRIGUEZ wasted no time extending his hit streak to 11 games as he led off the game with a single to begin a string of four straight base hits to start the game...BRADLEY ZIMMER drove in the first run of the game with a single that scored LUIGI RODRIGUEZ to put Lynchburg up 1-0...After CLINT FRAZIER scored on a fielding error, NELLIE RODRIGUEZ singled to bring home ZIMMER to complete a three-run first inning for the Hillcats to put them up 3-0...In the fifth inning, MIKE PAPI and SICNARF LOOPSTOK recorded back-to-back RBI doubles to put the Hillcats up 6-0...CLAUDIO BAUTISTA singled in the next spot of the lineup to record his first RBI in a Hillcats uniform to complete another three-run inning...Lynchburg scored multiple runs in five of the eight innings they came to the plate...In the sixth inning, NELLIE RODRIGUEZ recorded his third and fourth RBIs of the game with a two-run double that scored LUIGI RODRIGUEZ and CLINT FRAZIER. Later in the inning, MIKE PAPI had his second RBI double to bring the score to 10-0....YHOXIAN MEDINA tacked on another run with a RBI single that scored PAPI as the lead stretched to 11...D.J. BROWN (6-3) turned in one of his best performances of the season...BROWN went seven innings on the bump and didn't allow a run while giving up just four hits...He also struck out three while walking just two...BROWN is now 2-1 against the Red Sox in his career and a perfect 2-0 when facing KEVIN McAVOY this season...

VS. SALEM: Lynchburg is 9-2 against Salem this season and all but one of the wins have come on the road at LewisGale Field...Last time the Red Sox were in town, the visit was the start of a four game, two city, home-and-home series with the Red Sox...Salem won both games, sweeping a doubleheader at City Stadium, 12-0 in game one and 3-2 in eight innings in the second game...Lynchburg has outscored Salem 80-39 in head-to-head matchups this season...In 11 contests against the Red Sox, the Hillcats are hitting .309 as a team and have collected 10 home runs and 78 RBIs...In the eight games the teams have played on the road this season, Lynchburg has won each game by an average of more than four and a half runs, but at home against Salem this season, the Hillcats have only outscored them 17-15...The teams will meet a total of 26 times this season, 19 of those meetings come in the second half.

LUGO VS WILKERSON - THE SEQUEL: For the second consecutive night, the pitching matchup will feature a rematch from a previous series...Tonight's game will be a rematch of the June 30th contest between the Hillcats and the Red Sox as LUIS LUGO will square off against AARON WILKERSON...The last time the hurlers faced each other was just five days ago when LUGO and the Hillcats handed WILKERSON his first loss of the season...LUGO pitched five innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on seven hits, but received nine runs of in-game support to earn the win...WILKERSON pitched just 3 2/3 innings and allowed six runs on seven hits...

BRING 'EM ON HOME: Lynchburg set season highs in runs scored with 15 and total hits with 20, but the numbers didn't stop there...The Hillcats were an absurd 13-for-23 (.565) with five doubles and a triple as a team at the plate with runners in scoring position...This season, the Hillcats are hitting .277 with runners in scoring position while recording 72 extra-base hits which are both the best in the Carolina League...In addition to those numbers, Lynchburg is slugging .414 with runners in scoring position as well.

NO RUNS FOR YOU!: With the 15-0 victory last night, Lynchburg has now recorded five shutouts this season...In 2014, the Hillcats recorded just five shutouts the entire year...Salem was only able to muster four hits in the game marking the 17th time the Hillcats have allowed five hits or fewer to an opponent...That means that Hillcats opponents have been held to less than five hits in 21.5% of games this season...D.J. BROWN, ANTONIO ROMERO, and J.P. FEYEREISEN combined for the shutout...It was the first time either of the three had been involved in a shutout this season.

MAKING A STATEMENT: OF LUIGI RODRIGUEZ led off last night's game with a single, extending his hitting streak to 11 games, his longest of the season...During his streak, LUIGI has recorded nine multi-hit games...He is hitting 23-for-53 (.434) with a home run, three doubles, four triples, and four stolen bases in his last 11 contests...The 22-year-old leads the Carolina League with a .536 slugging percentage, 150 total bases, 11 home runs, and eight triples...He also paces the circuit with a total of 35 extra-base hits this year...With a 3-for-6 performance last night, RODRIGUEZ is now batting .318 against Salem this season with two home runs, seven RBIs, and a triple in 10 games.

AYE PAPI!: Outfielder MIKE PAPI has been unstoppable in his last seven games...During that span, PAPI has recorded at least one hit in each contest and is 10-for-25 (.400) with two home runs, two doubles, nine RBIs, and six runs scored...Seven of PAPI'S RBIs during his hit streak have come in the last five games.

IVAN THE NOT SO TERRIBLE: Shortstop IVAN CASTILLO is currently riding a season-high six game hit streak...CASTILLO, is 9-for-22 (.409), with four runs scored and two RBIs during that span...This season CASTILLO is 11-for-33 (.333) with three doubles and four RBIs against the Red Sox.

MAKE IT A CAREER NIGHT: NELLIE RODRIGUEZ went 4-for-6 last night and tied career highs in hits and RBIs with five...He continues to lead the Carolina League in RBIs this season as he now has 62 on the year...MIKE PAPI tied a career high and set a season high with three RBIs tonight...He now has nine RBIs in his last six games...As a team, the Hillcats set season-high marks in runs (15) and hits in a game (20) and tied a season-high with three double plays turned...They have now recorded double digit hits in seven of the nine games they have played in the second half.

THIS DATE IN BASEBALL HISTORY: On July 5, 1966, three seasons after trading future Hall of Famer Lou Brock to the Cardinals for right-hander Ernie Broglio, the Cubs send the beleaguered pitcher to their Pacific Coast League farm team in Tacoma (WA), where he will never be called to the major leagues again. During his dismal tenure with Chicago, the former 20-game winner compiled a woeful 7-19 record and an ERA of 5.40.
