Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - Hickory's Jerad Eickhoff speared a shutout of the Kannapolis offense in a 6-0 Crawdads victory over the Intimidators on Saturday night in front of 2,447 at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.

Eickhoff (4-2) tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing five hits with seven strikeouts to earn his second win over Kannapolis this season. Shawn Blackwell pitched scoreless eighth and ninth innings as the Intimidators were shut out for the third time this season, the second time by Hickory.

Intimidators starter Blair Walters kept pace with Eickhoff through five innings, limiting Hickory to three base runners on three hits hits over the first five frames. Walters (0-2) got into trouble in the sixth inning after an error allowed the leadoff man to reach base, as he gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits and left the game on the hook for the eventual loss.

Zach Johnson capped Hickory's four-run sixth inning with his team- leading fifth home run of the season. It was Johnson's fourth home run against Kannapolis and third off Walters this season.

Kannapolis sprayed six hits over the game, threatening only in the fourth inning with consecutive singles to begin the frame. Eickhoff started a timely line-out double play to quash the fourth-inning scoring threat while the game was still in a scoreless tie.

The Intimidators continue this four-game series against the Hickory Crawdads on Sunday as Kannapolis left-hander Scott Snodgress (1-0, 3.20) faces Hickory's righty Santo Perez (1-1, 5.73). First pitch at CMC-NorthEast Stadium is at 5:05 p.m. For ticket information, call the box office at (704) 932-3267 or visit www.IntimidatorsBaseball.com.
