KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (June 26, 2012) -- The Hickory Crawdads batted around in the eighth inning to pull away from Kannapolis, dropping the Intimidators, 7-1, on Tuesday night at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.

Crawdads starter Nick Martinez (4-2) tossed six scoreless inning, scattering seven hits while striking out seven for the win.

Kannapolis threatened to strike in the fourth inning when Mark Haddow, Rangel Ravelo and Leighton Pangilinan all singled to load the bases before Martinez struck out the next three batters to get out of the jam unscathed.

Scott Snodgress worked four hitless innings to open the game before Kellin Deglan's two-out home run put the Crawdads up 1-0 in the fifth. Snodgress (2-3) struck out a season-high eight batters while working two batters into the seventh inning before being lifted from the game. He finished the night allowing three runs on three hits in a losing effort.

The Crawdads pulled away with a six-run eighth inning, chasing Snodgress from the game on a Deglan double. Stew Brase allowed four runs on five hits, including a Nick Urbanus two-run single that started the scoring spree.

Reliever Salvador Sanchez, a converted outfielder who played for Kannapolis in 2006, pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for the Intimidators.

The Intimidators continue a four-game series against the Crawdads in a day game on Wednesday at 12:05 p.m. as RHP Ryan Buch (1-0, 0.00) faces Hickory's LHP Kevin Matthews (1-1, 6.60). For ticket information, call the box office at (704) 932-3267 or visit www.IntimidatorsBaseball.com .
