Ninth Inning Magic Lefts Braves

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Greenville Drive 3-2 Tuesday evening at State Mutual Stadium on a ninth inning two out RBI single by Cory Brownsten. The Braves improve to 5 -1 in the second half of the season.

Greenville struck first in the fourth inning when Garin Cecchini walked, stole second and scored on a Henry Ramos single. Ramos would later score in the inning on a Cody Koback base hit. Rome answered in the bottom of the inning with two runs to tie the game. Robby Hefflinger (2) led off the frame with a solo home run to left field. William Beckwith followed with a single, reached third on a wild pitch and a ground out and scored on a Brandon Drury sacrifice fly.

The winning run would score in the bottom of the ninth after two outs. Chase Anselment walked and Will Skinner came on as a pinch runner. Brandon Drury would single up the middle to advance Skinner to third. Cory Brownsten would then single over the second baseman's head to send the Braves home with a 3-2 victory.

Greg Ross went seven strong innings allowing two runs on five hits and striking out four. David Peterson (1-0) would come into the game and pitch the final two innings to pick up the win. Nate Striz (0-1) would get the loss for Greenville.
