
Hernandez 4-For-4 as Travs Remain Red Hot

Springdale, AR - The Arkansas Travelers utilized a five-run third to beat the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 5-2 on Tuesday night at Arvest Ballpark.
1B Brian Hernandez finished 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs in the game.
In the third, C Anthony Bemboom began the frame with a bunt single towards third. After SS Erick Salcedo singled to right, 3B Drew Maggi also dropped down a bunt for a single to load the bases with no outs. RHP Matt Murray (L, 5-2) then walked 2B Sherman Johnson to bring in the game's first run and hit CF Chad Hinshaw with a pitch to make it 2-0. After a LF Blake Gailen sacrifice fly put Arkansas up 3-0, Hernandez lined a two-run single up the middle to cap the five-run frame.
Johnson's walk was his Minor League Baseball-leading ninth with the bases loaded.
RHP Kyle McGowin surrendered a two-run home run to 2B Ramon Torres in the fifth but was strong for the sixth-straight start. McGowin tossed five innings and allowed the two runs on seven hits with a walk and seven strikeouts.
RHP Nate Hyatt held the Naturals off the board in the sixth and seventh, LHP Chris O'Grady worked a 1-2-3 eighth and LHP Greg Mahle (S, 12) earned his 12th save with a scoreless ninth. Mahle has 21 saves on the season between Arkansas and A-Inland Empire.
RF Cal Towey singled in the third to extend his consecutive games on-base streak to 18. Hinshaw (15) and Hernandez (12) also have active on-base streaks that were extended on Tuesday.
Hinshaw stole two bases and Arkansas is 15-for-last-15 in stolen base attempts.
With the win, the Travs improved to 11-2 over their last 13 games and are 10 games over .500 at 59-49 for the first time this season.
Arkansas (22-16) has a three game lead over Springfield in the Texas League North second half standings.
The Travelers and Naturals will conclude the three-game series on Wednesday night at Arvest Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
