Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

SAN ANTONIO - A pair of big innings boosted Corpus Christi Tuesday night as the Hooks ran past the Missions 10-4 at Wolff Stadium.

The Hooks (22-17, 70-39) are now a franchise-best 31 games over .500.

Colin Moran's first-inning RBI double was the key swing in a 3-run frame for Corpus Christi.

In the third, Moran belted the first pitch from Dennis O'Grady over the fence in right for his fifth home run of the year and a 4-1 Hooks edge.

Jio Mier opened the fourth with a base hit to center field. Mier stole second, moved to third on an air out and scored via Alfredo Gonzalez's sac fly.

The Hooks then erupted for four two-out runs against O'Grady (3-4) in the fifth. A.J. Reed and Jon Kemmer hit back-to-back doubles. Mier followed with an RBI single and Conrad Gregor capped the assault with a two-run shot to right.

Ruben Alaniz (4-2) earned the victory by scattering four runs (three earned) over five innings. A Luis Domoromo solo homer in the first and Domoromo's two-run triple in the fifth accounted for the bulk of the damage.

Chris Cotton, Travis Ballew and Reymin Guduan combined for four scoreless innings of relief.

The Hooks shoot for the series sweep Wednesday night. Joe Musgrove (3-0, 2.25) is slated to pitch for Corpus Christi. The Missions turn to Bryan Rodriguez (4-11, 4.73).
