Hee's the Man, Sea Dogs Win 8-5

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs belted three home runs as they defeated the Altoona Curve 8-5 Sunday afternoon before a crowd of 6,781 at Hadlock Field. The win earned the Sea Dogs a split of the four game series.

The Sea Dogs banged out 15 hits including home runs from Oscar Tejeda, Tim Federowicz, and Jon Hee.

Hee broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the fourth inning when he blasted a three run homer, his third of the year, over the Maine Monster in left field forcing Altoona starter Aaron Pribanic (7-9) from the game. Hee also added a RBI single in the fifth, who completed the day with a 3-for-5 performance with a home run and four RBI.

Altoona jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first when Andrew Lambo singled home Starling Marte. The Sea Dogs responded in the second with a home run by Tejeda, his fourth, and a RBI single by Alex Hassan as the Sea Dogs took a 2-1 lead.

The Pirates affiliate tied the game at two in the third when Tony Sanchez drew a bases loaded walk from Portland starter Chris Balcom-Miller.

Federowicz hit his eighth home run of the year in the bottom of the third to give the Sea Dogs the 3-2 lead. Federowicz would add a sacrifice fly scoring Ryan Khoury in the fifth. Federowicz ended the day with a 2-for-4 performance with two runs scored and two RBI.

Altoona fought back again to tie the game at three in the fourth, when Hee launched his three run homer in the bottom half of the inning giving the Sea Dogs a comfortable 6-3 lead.

Chih-Hsien Chiang wasted no time extending his hit streak to 16 games with a single in the first inning. Chiang also added his league leading 37th double in the fourth inning. Chiang's 2-for-4 performance raised his average to .340.

Junichi Tazawa (2-2) earned the win tossing three no-hit innings in relief of Balcom-Miller. Tazawa struck out four and did not walk a batter.

The Sea Dogs are off on Monday and will start a seven game/ six day road trip with a doubleheader against the Bowie Baysox at 6:05 PM on Tuesday. Right-handed pitcher Alex Wilson (8-4, 2.87) will start in game one for the Sea Dogs; he will be opposed by Bowie lefty Mike Ballard (6-1, 2.88). Game two will be Portland righty Michael Lee (1-5, 4.96), Bowie has not yet announced a game two starter. The Sea Dogs will return to Hadlock Field for a six game homestand on August 9th.
