Harrisburg Senators News Release
On Sunday afternoon the Senators lost to the Binghamton Mets 5-2 in front of 4,438 at Metro Bank Park. With the loss, the Senators fall to 61-48 on the season and saw their lead shrink to ½ game over Richmond. The Senators went 16-16 in the month of July, their seventh consecutive month of playing at least .500 baseball.
Harrisburg took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and an rbi triple off the bat of Chris Rahl, scoring Leonard Davis. After sailing through the first two innings, Erik Davis ran into trouble in the top of the third as the B-Mets tagged him for two runs in the third and then three more in the fifth for a 5-1 lead.
The Senators came back with a run with the sixth, on a wild pitch, but that was if for the scoring. The Senators put runners on base in the seventh and eighth innings, but failed to score. One day after pounding out 15 hits, the Senators had just five hits in the game on Sunday.
Jimmy Barthmaier, Cory VanAllen, and Pat Lehman combined to pitch the final four innings without allowing a run.
After an off-day on Monday, the Senators hit the road for a six-game road trip through Reading and Erie. Game one of the six-game road trip is Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. at First Energy Stadium in Reading. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:50 p.m.
