Head Three-Run Homer Powers Pit Spitters to Four-Game Sweep

Traverse City, MI - The Pit Spitters wrapped up a four-game sweep of the Kokomo Jackrabbits Wednesday night, in front of better than 1,400 people in Traverse City. The 10-5 victory marks the team's ninth win against Kokomo in twelve contests.

The Pit Spitters struck first yet again, pushing two runs across in the first inning and taking command in the fourth behind Daniel Head's (JR New Mexico State) three-run home run to left field. The Pit Spitters would go on to add five more runs in the sixth inning with consecutive RBI's coming from Riley Bertram (FR Michigan,) Hudson Byorick (JR Wofford,) Mario Camilletti (SO Oakland,) and Michael Slaten (JR Benedictine,) who put a bow on the inning with his triple that one hopped the fence in center field.

Pit Spitters starter Chad Patrick earned his third victory of the season and moves to 3-4 on the year after tossing six innings, allowing just one unearned run on two hits, while striking out four.

The Pit Spitters return to action Thursday with a 7:05 p.m. road matchup against the Kalamazoo Growlers. The Pit Spitters next play at home on Saturday, July 27, with a 7:05 p.m. matchup with the Rockford Rivets. Every Saturday is "Sizzlin' Saturday," at Pit Spitters Park, with a different theme each week. This week will be Star Wars Night, with specialty Star Ware themed jerseys to be worn and sold off with all proceeds going to charity. Gates will open at 6:00 p.m.
