Boise Hawks News Release
BOISE, Idaho - The Boise Hawks jumped out to an early lead on the Eugene Emeralds but could not hold on as the Emeralds evened the three games series, winning by a score of 8-3.
The Hawks got on the board first for the second night in a row after Kevin Padlo hit an RBI single up the middle to drive in Yonathan Daza and give the Hawks the early 1-0 lead.
In the fifth inning, Emeralds starting pitcher, Carson Sands hit Collin Ferguson with pitch before giving up the first professional hit to Hawks outfielder, Brian Carroll. A balk and a wild pitch from Sands allowed Ferguson to score the Hawks second run of the game. Carlos Herrera followed with a slow dribbler down the first base line that scored Carroll from third base and gave the Hawks a 3-0 lead.
Sands gave way to Jae-Hoon Ha, who struck out four over two scoreless innings to pick up the win.
The Emeralds batted through the lineup and platted six runs in the seventh inning as the Hawks allowed five walks and a hit batter before Frandy Delarosa hit a bases clearing three-run triple.
Tyler Matzek picked up the loss on the evening after pitching one third of an inning.
The Hawks are now 3-4 on the season and look to do battle again tomorrow night in the rubber match of this three game series against the Emeralds. Game time is set for 8:05 p.m. at PK Stadium.
Notes: The Hawks, who came into the game tied with the Vancouver Canadians for the league lead in stolen bases (16), were again active on the base paths as Hamlet Marte picked up his second stolen base of the season.
