Tri-City Earns First Home Win of Season

The Tri-City Dust Devils scored on hits and errors in a 6-3 win against the Vancouver Canadians at Gesa Stadium on Wednesday night in front of a Pahlisch Homes School Night crowd of 3,007. The Dust Devils (4-3) compiled seven hits on the night and were aided by four costly errors by the Canadians (3-4).

Henry Charles came up big for the Dust Devils, hitting a two-run homer in the bottom of the second.

Jose Castillo (1-0) was solid on the mound Wednesday, earning the win. The Dust Devils starter went five innings, giving up just one run on three hits. The lefty also struck out five and now has a 2.70 ERA in his first two starts with Tri-City.

Canadians starter Evan Smith (0-1) pitched four and two thirds innings in the losing effort. The left-hander surrendered five runs, three earned, on six hits and one walk while striking out only one batter.

Luis Urias had a single, along with Mason Smith, while Carlos Belen had two hits. Nick Vilter also added to the winning effort, collecting a double in the game.

The Dust Devils and Canadians will play the final game of their three game series at 7:15 PM Thursday at Gesa Stadium. There will be Postgame Fireworks brought to you by Back to Basics Chiropractic! In addition, the Seattle Seahawks 12 Tour will be making an appearance at Gesa Stadium tomorrow, featuring wide receiver Chris Matthews and defensive tackle Jimmy Staten. The Dust Devils are sending right-hander Angel Mejia to the mound while the Canadians will start righty Jackson McClelland. Thursday night's game is sold out, but the Dust Devils return home next Wednesday, July 1st vs the Everett AquaSox.
