Charlotte Checkers News Release

(Charlotte, NC - Friday, February 28) The Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League has recalled goalie David St. Germain from the Charlotte Checkers. The move is announced today by Checkers Head Coach and General Manager, Derek Wilkinson. St. Germain will join the Wolf Pack in Springfield, Massachusetts tonight when Hartford will play the Springfield Falcons. This is the second AHL recall for St. Germain this season. St. Germain has played in 30 games so far this season for the Checkers with a 14-10-5 record, 2.89 GAA and a .910 save percentage.

Local Charlotte goalie Chris Winter will back up Scott Meyer tonight as the Checkers continue their week-long roadtrip as the club is back in Greenville to take on the Grrrowl tonight at the Bi-Lo Center. Last night's game in Greensboro was postponed because of the snowstorm that hit North Carolina. The game will be made up in March but a makeup date has not been finalized as of today.

Heading into tonight's action the Checkers find themselves tied for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Southern Division with the South Carolina Stingrays, with each team totaling 61 points. The Stingrays do have three games in hand on the Checkers. Following this week's road trip, the Checkers will be back at Cricket Arena to play five home games in six games, beginning with a Friday, March 5 match with the Dayton Bombers at 7:30 p.m. on "Pucks & Prayers" night.
