BOISE, Idaho - After a disappointing 3-2 shootout loss to the Aces Wednesday night, the Idaho Steelheads recorded a 6-1 victory over Alaska tonight at the Bank of America Centre to the delight of 4,926 fans. The win improves Idaho's record to 32-16-7 and 71 points, while Alaska falls to 30-21-4 and 64 points.

The two teams played a very physical and aggressive game, collecting a combined 115 penalty minutes (77 of those came in the first period). Both teams went 1-for-7 on the power play, but Idaho outshot Alaska 32-15.

Darrell Hay scored the first goal of the game with a one-timer that beat Aces goalie Dan Murphy. Hay took the feed from Dylan Gyori across the crease and scored on the power play at 8:27. Near the end of the period, with Alaska on the power play, Idaho tried to clear the zone, but couldn't. Chris Lipsett took a shot that trickled over Allison's shoulder and Cameron Jordan knocked it in.

Idaho scored three times in the middle frame. Peach notched one on a pass from Andrei Vasilyev who skated the puck in from center ice at 2:22. Just over a minute later Burt brought the puck in, passed it to Copeland who took the shot, and Keup scored on the rebound. Chris Slater tallied a blue line bullet on a nice pass from Copeland at 18:26 to give the Steelheads a 4-1 lead.

Idaho found the back of the net twice in the final period with Brett Draney scoring on a soft shot from outside the crease that snuck under Murphy and caught the corner of the twine. The last goal came at 18:32 with Dave Cornacchia picking up a shorthanded tally.

This three-game series marks the final matchup of the Idaho Steelheads and Alaska Aces this regular season. The two teams face off for the third and final game on Saturday at the Bank of America Centre at 7:05 p.m.
