ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (29-20-10) defeated the Columbus Cottonmouths (30-22-4) 2-1 in front of 7,275 at TECO arena Friday night.

In the first period the lone goal was scored by Florida when forward Brian McCullough found Keith Anderson in the high slot and he one timed McCullough's pass through Columbus netminder Jason Tapp for a 1-0 lead.

In the second period the Everblades jumped up 2-0 in the second period when defenseman Mike Torney sent a wrist shot through a crowd of players and past Tapp. The goal is Torney's first with the Everblades since he was traded to Florida from Florence earlier in the week. Columbus got on the score board about midway through the middle period on a power play goal by Jean Francois Plourde. Florida led 2-1 through two periods.

Florida goalie Jeff Maund stopped 10 shots in the final period to help Florida preserve the victory.

Maund stopped 25 of 26 shots. Columbus goalie Jason Tapp stopped 26 of 28 shots. Florida finished 0 for 5 on the power play while Columbus went 1 for 4. The Everblades and Cottonmouths will battle again tomorrow night , Saturday, February 26th at TECO Arena. Game time is 7:30.
