The Senators are 5-3 on the current road trip, their first winning road trip of the season.

Last Time Out... Sunday afternoon the Senators and New Britain Rock Cats were delayed almost an hour, but that delay didn't slow down the offenses in the Sens 11-5 loss to New Britain. In the top of the first Cristian Guerrero and Salomon Manriquez both hit two-run home runs with two outs to give the Sens a 4-0 lead before New Britain had even come to bat. The Rock Cats received the first of five two-runs home run in the first inning to cut the lead in half 4-2. In the second they received the first of three home runs off the bat of Garrett Guzman to tie the game. The Rock Cats took the lead in the in the fourth when Denard Span hit a solo home run to give New Britain a 5-4 lead. Guzman homered two more times, both of them two-run home runs, to help put the game out of reach. Shairon Martis made his first start for the Senators. The 18 year old pitched five innings and allowed seven runs on eight hits. He gave up four of the five home runs hit by the Rock Cats. Dan Kolb pitched two innings and infielder Greg Thissen pitched the final inning, the third game he has pitched in this season. Cristian Guerrero had three hits and three rbi's for the Senators and Marco Yepez chipped in two hits in a losing effort.

Big Finish... The Senators struggled for much of July and into early August, but have played good baseball the past two weeks. The Sens have won nine of their past 16 games and their 66 wins are the most by a Senators team since the 2002 team finished 79-63.
