Fisher Cats add two pitchers for final games

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release


Manchester, NH- Right-handed pitcher Scott Byrnes and left-handed pitcher Nathan Starner have joined the Fisher Cats (Toronto AA) for the final day of the season. Both have been pitching for the Blue Jays Short-Season A team, the Auburn Doubledays (NY-Penn League). New Hampshire is playing a season-ending doubleheader today in Portland. The Sea Dogs (Boston AA) starts the day with a two-game lead over Binghamton in the race for the wildcard in the Northern Division of the Eastern League.

Byrnes, a 23-year old right-hander, has worked in 18 games, all in relief for the Doubledays. He was 0-1, 3.71 with 3 saves. Byrnes, who played at Purdue University, was the Blue Jays 28th round pick in the 2005 draft.

Starner, a 22-year old left hander, was 0-0, 6.75 in 2 outings with Auburn. Starner was a stand-out at Shippensburg University. He was signed as a non-drafted free agent in June.

New Hampshire relief pitcher Rodney Ormond was placed on the inactive list. The Fisher Cat roster is at the league maximum, 23 players.
