
Guelph Tops Flint 5-3 on Saturday Night

Flint, Mich. - The Guelph Storm scored two power-play goals and one shorthanded goal (http://flintfirebirds.com/article/guelph1172015) en route to a 5-3 victory over the Flint Firebirds before more than 3,200 fans at the Dort Federal Event Center on Saturday night.
Nicholas Caamano would earn the Firebirds an early lead after converting back-door on a tic-tac-toe play from Will Bitten and Ryan Moore at 5:36 of the opening frame.
Guelph defenseman Garrett McFadden tied the game with 2:17 remaining in the first period, firing the puck on net from the point through traffic on the power-play.
The Storm would score the next two goals in the middle period when James McEwan would score from the right circle at 5:04 followed by Tyler Hill notching his first of the season on a deflection goal at 9:11 on the power-play.
Flint's Mathieu Henderson would score his third goal of the season rifling the puck through traffic and beating Justin Nichols on the power-play with 8:22 remaining in the second period.
While shorthanded, Guelph's Tyler Boston scored on a breakaway to give the Storm a 4-2 lead before tallying his sixth goal of the season 1:23 into the third period from the slot.
Will Bitten would finish the eight-goal hockey game when Ryan Moore's defensive attempt in the offensive zone landed the puck on Bitten's stick, scoring five-hole past Nichols.
The Storm finished the game 2-for-8 on the power-play while Flint was one-for-eight on the man-advantage Saturday night. Guelph outshot Flint 38-31 and Will Bitten was awarded the game's second star.
