November 8, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Sudbury Wolves News Release
The Sudbury Wolves fell 5-1 to the Mississauga Steelheads on a Sudbury Saturday Night at the Sudbury Community Arena. The Wolves were unable to bury a number of 1st period chances; coupled with a three-goal 2nd for the Steelheads was the difference, the Wolves could not overcome their deficit.
The Wolves played a solid first period but were not rewarded for their strong play. They had a number of chances but the Mississauga netminder did not let anything past him. The closest chance came from DMITRY SOKOLOV whose shot went off the crossbar. Damian Bourne scored the lone goal of the period to give the Steelheads the 1-0 lead heading into the intermission. After 20 minutes of play, the Wolves outshot Mississauga 17-12.
The Steelheads scored a couple of goals early in the 2nd period, which swung the momentum in their favour. Damian Bourne scored his second of the game and Thomas Lattavo added the third Steelheads goal. The Wolves tried to get back in the game, as PATRICK MURPHY was able to take the feed from BRADY PATAKI and MATT SCHMALZ and scored the Wolves only goal of the period. Shortly thereafter, the Steelheads re-gained their three-goal lead as Lattavo added his second of the period. After two, shots were 26-23 in favour of the Wolves.
The Steelheads added the only goal in the 3rd to close out the game with a final score of 5-1. Final shots on goal were 36-30 in favour of Mississauga.
The Wolves complete their 5-game homestand next Friday, November 13th against their Northern Rival, the North Bay Battalion. Tickets are available at the Sudbury Arena Box Office, by calling (705)-671-3000, or by visiting greatersudbury.ca.
