Fischer Hat-Trick Leads Spits Past #1 Otters
November 8, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Windsor Spitfires News Release
(Erie, PA) - Christian Fischer's first Ontario League hat-trick lifted the Spitfires to a 6-4 win over the CHL's #1-ranked team Saturday night.
Garret Hughson made 35 saves for his third win in as many starts and Bradley Latour chipped in a goal and three assists, as Windsor (11-4-3-0) beat Erie (13-2-1-0) for the first time in three tries this season.
The Spits led on four different occasions, only to have the home side respond to tie the game, before Cristiano DiGiacinto tipped home a Logan Stanley point shot with less than seven minutes to play to put the Spits up for good.
Latour rounded out the scoring with an empty-net goal at 18:53 of the third period and also had the lone assist on all three of Fischer's goals - his eighth, ninth and tenth of the season.
Jalen Chatfield (4) had the other Windsor goal.
Alex DeBrincat had a pair of markers in a losing cause, giving him a league-leading 22 on the season.
The Spits are back at it on Sunday, as they visit the Guelph Storm (6pm). The game can be seen live on TVCogeco Windsor, heard on AM800 CKLW (5:45 pregame) and followed live on Twitter (@SpitsHockey).
