Brampton Steelheads News Release
Sudbury, ON - The Mississauga Steelheads continued their northern road trip Saturday night with a visit to the Sudbury Community Arena to take on the wolves. The Steelheads were looking to bounce back after suffering a 4-3 loss against the Greyhounds in their annual trip to the Soo, while the Wolves looked to snap a 3-game losing streak.
Damian Bourne would put the Steelheads one the board at 11:29 of the opening frame, finishing off a saucer pass from Nathan Bastian. Everett Clark picked up the extra assist on what would be the lone goal of the period. Sudbury had a number of solid chances, but Jack Flinn stood tall for the Trout to keep their 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
The Steelheads came out with a pair of early goals in the second to swing the momentum their way. Damian Bourne redirected a shot from the point by Nicolas Hague for his second of the night, and Thomas Lattavo put a little move on Alan Lyszczarczyk to give the Steelheads a 3-0 lead. The Wolves would solve Jack Flinn midway throught the middle frame as Brady Pataki fed Patrick Murphy in front of the net. The Steelheads would regain their 3-goal lead as Luke Kutkevicius picked up a loose puck just outside the Wolves' zone, allowing him and Lattavo to jump in on a 2-on-1. Kutkevicius slid Lattavo a pass in front of Zack Bowman and Lattavo made no mistake going backhand top shelf giving the Trout a 4-1 lead heading into the final period.
Michael McLeod added the only goal in the 3rd to close out the game with a final score of 5-1. Assists on McLeod's 5th of the season went to Daniel Muzito-Bagenda and Alex Nylander. Final shots on goal were 36-30 in favour of Mississauga.
The Steelheads will travel over the border Tuesday to take on the Erie Otters before returning home on Friday, November 13 to host the Windsor Spitfires.
