Grrrowl win number 200 with shootout victory

GREENVILLE, SC â The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL, proud affiliates of the Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers have announced that the 4-3 (SO) win on Tuesday night in Fresno, CA accounted for the 200th regular season victory in franchise history. The overall regular season record is 200-205-44, while the team has also competed in 36 playoff games, amassing a 22-14 record â including the 2001-02 Kelly Cup Championship. The Grrrowl have now competed in 485 total games, with the 500th game scheduled on January 18, 2005 in Columbia against the Inferno.

JOHN MARKS COACHING MILESTONE VP of Hockey Operations and Head Coach John Marks is also approaching a coaching milestone. Now, in his 18th season as a head coach, Coach Marks will coach his 1,400th game (regular season and playoffs) on December 26, 2004 when the Grrrowl visit the Pee Dee Pride. His overall record is currently 694-576-124. Marks has two ECHL Championships (1994-95 with Charlotte; 2001-02 with Greenville) and has competed in the playoffs on 11 occasions during his first 17 years. With the 1394 games, Marks is the leader among current active coaches in professional hockey, and eighth on the all-time list. Second among active coaches in games coached is Bryan Murray of the NHL Ottawa Senators (currently on lockout). Leading the all-time list is Scotty Bowman with 2,571 games.
