Bakersfield Condors News Release

Victoria, British Columbia, Canada - The Bakersfield Condors scored six times on Wednesday night but it wasn't enough in an 8-6 loss against the Victoria Salmon Kings at the Bear Mountain Arena on Tuesday night.

The Condors scored twice in the span of just over two minutes to take the lead in this contest, the third meeting in four days between the clubs. Kevin St. Jacques' slapshot trickled through for his fourth of the season. Brad Mehalko became the first Condors to reach double digits this season with his shorthanded tally at 9:36. A Ryan Wade power play goal for Victoria at 11:19 made it 2-1 after one period.

Victoria and Bakersfield exchanged early tallies in the second stanza, but the Salmon Kings bounced back with a burst of three goals in the span of 3:19 to take a commanding lead into the dressing room. The Condors were outshot 18-8 in the middle frame as they trailed 5-3 through 40 minutes.

In the third period the goals kept coming. Bakersfield came back with two tallies to tie the game 5-5. Victoria, however, bounced back with two quick ones to regain the two-goal advantage 7- 5. Guy Dupuis pulled Bakersfield back within a goal with just under four minutes remaining, but and empty net tally sealed the deal and dealt the Condors their second consecutive loss, the first time all season they've lost two straight.

The Condors return to California with a road game in Fresno on Friday. They hit the ice at Centennial Garden on Saturday, December 11th against the Greenville Grrrowl. The first 2,000 kids 12 and under will receive a Condors backpack, courtesy of KGET-TV 17 and Subway. In addition, the Condors are teaming up with R&D Leather Furniture on the Stay Focused Ministries Toy Drive that night. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate and receive a voucher good for a $1 terrace ticket to that game.
