'Blades Trade Abbott to Idaho

Estero, FL - Florida Everblades head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that forward Jim Abbott has been traded to the Idaho Steelheads for financial considerations.

The trade sends Abbott to his fourth ECHL team in the past two years. This year, the 24-year-old native of Mars, PA skated in 17 games with the Everblades, collecting five points (1g, 4a) and 12 penalty minutes. Last season, the former 7th round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2000, split his rookie season between Toledo and Pensacola. Combined, Abbott notched 56 points in 69 games (26g, 30a) with the Storm and Ice Pilots. Prior to joining the professional ranks, Abbott played four seasons at the University of New Hampshire, where he collected 94 points in 141 career games.
