Greenville Grrrowl News Release

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Greenville Grrrowl of the East Coast Hockey League on Tuesday traded right winger MIKE HURLEY to the Trenton Titans (ECHL) for CHRIS LYNCH and JOHN NAIL.

This is the first full season of professional hockey for LYNCH, who played college hockey at Northeastern University. In four seasons at Northeastern, the 24-year old Duxbury, Massachusettes native recorded 47 goals, 55 assists, 102 points and 175 penalty minutes in 138 career games. After finishing his senior season last year, Lynch recorded 6 points in 5 games with the East Coast Hockey League's Trenton Titans, and 1 point in 3 games with the American Hockey League's Providence Bruins. This season, the 5'11", 210 pound forward has 7 goals, 13 assists, 20 points and 99 penalty minutes with the Titans. He also appeared in one game with the AHL's Binghamton Senators.

"Chris (Lynch) is a very tenacious forward who comes to play every night", said Grrrowl VP of Hockey Operations/Head Coach JOHN MARKS. "He plays hard in the corners and we needed a spark in that department."

NAIL is in his second season out of Michigan State University. In four seasons with the Spartans, the Bramalea, Ontario native registered 29 goals, 24 assists, 53 points and 88 penalty minutes in 168 career games. He enjoyed a 20-goal campaign (20-8-28 pts.) in his senior season in 2000-2001. Last season, the 6'1", 200 pound right winger scored 9 goals, 16 assists, 25 points and 28 penalty minutes with Trenton, and also chipped in 4 points in 7 Kelly Cup playoff games. This season, he has 4 goals, 5 assists, 9 points and 24 penalty minutes in 35 games with Trenton.

"John (Nail) is a very good defensive forward who's a presence on the ice", said Marks. "Trenton needed a skilled forward like Hurley, and we got two very good hockey players in return".

Both Lynch and Nail are expected to join the team in time for Thursday's practice at the Pavilion (8:45 AM), and will be in the line-up when Greenville ends a 4-game road trip in Lexington, Kentucky on Friday at 7:30 PM (Newsradio 1330 & 950, WORD).
