Kingfish Seek Local Investors
January 14, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Baton Rouge Kingfish News Release
The Baton Rouge Kingfish announced today that they are seeking local investors to help stabilize and ensure the future of the Kingfish in Baton Rouge for many years.
As the only professional sports franchise in the Capital City, the Kingfish are actively seeking local corporate investors to ensure the long-term stability of the team.
"The best thing for the Baton Rouge Kingfish would be to have key leaders in the Baton Rouge business community share the ownership," said Kingfish owner Scott Bolduc.
Bolduc purchased the Kingfish days before opening night last season from an ownership group located in Erie, Pennsylvania. The franchise Bolduc purchased was debt ridden and a dysfunctional organization that was on the verge of collapse.
With the new ownership's infusion of capital, the franchise has undertaken many positive improvements to the Kingfish's playing facilities, Baton Rouge's Riverside Centroplex as well as turn around the team's understaffed office management and marketing structure.
"Since I purchased the team last season," said Bolduc, "I have put together an experienced staff to effectively manage and operate every aspect of the team's operation. However, we need more local help."
As the Capital City's oldest current sports franchise, The Kingfish play an integral role in the Baton Rouge community. In the franchises' seven seasons in Baton Rouge, the Kingfish have given many hours of community outreach to local hospitals, schools and local charities including over 2,500 hours this season alone. The Kingfish have also had a financial impact to the City as well as the parish of East Baton Rouge of over $9-million in seven seasons.
All inquiries should be placed directly to Owner and CEO, Scott Bolduc at 225-927-5558, ext. 215, by fax at 225-214-1099, or by e-mail at Scotty@kingfishhockey.com.
