First of two home games this week against Idaho starts at 7:00pm

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League will play four games this week, including a pair of home games at Centennial Garden against the first place Idaho Steelheads. The Condors are 2-2 against the Steelheads this season. The action starts on Wednesday night at 7:00pm. The Condors will also host the Steelheads on Sunday evening at 5:00pm.

Wednesday's game features the Project Warm Families Coat Drive, sponsored by KGET-TV 17, KRAB Radio and The Gas Company. Anyone bringing a new or gently used coat will receive a free terrace level ticket to the game against Idaho. The coats will be donated to needy families through the United Way of Kern County and the Bakersfield Police Activities League.

Also on Wednesday, it's College/High School Student ID Night. All college, high school and junior high students can receive a lower level ticket for just $1, subject to availability, by presenting their current school identification. College/High School Student ID Night is sponsored by WB 12 and KISS 96.5.

In addition, Wednesday is also the fourth T.H.I.N.K. Night of the season. 101.5 KGFM, Paramount Farms and ARRC Technology sponsor the program. Students who participated in a T.H.I.N.K. appearance during the last month received a voucher for free admission to this game. The T.H.I.N.K. program allows students to earn tickets to tonight's game through exceptional performance.

Prior to Wednesday night's game, starting at 5:30pm on the Centennial Garden plaza, there will be a "Battle of the Bands" competition, involving local groups. The competition is scheduled to run right up until game time, and will feature two stages and six bands. KISS and KRAB Radio sponsor "Battle of the Bands".

The Condors take to the road for a pair of games in Long Beach this weekend. Friday night's game starts at 7:30pm, and Saturday's game begins at 7:00pm. Saturday's game is the featured season ticket game in Long Beach. Condors season ticket holders received a free voucher for this game in their ticket books. The voucher must be redeemed in person at the Long Beach Arena box office at 300 Ocean Blvd. in Long Beach. For more information or for directions, call (562) 436-3636. All games, home or away, can be heard on KGEO AM 1230, with "Condor's Countdown" starting 15 prior to game time. Condors Broadcaster Kevin Bartl handles the play-by-play.

While the team is on the road, fans can still watch the Condors in action. For fans who aren't heading south to watch the team live and still want to catch the action, another "Condors Classic" will air on Friday night at 7:00pm on Time Warner Cable Ch. 21. The featured game is from February 18th, 2001, a 5-3 win over the Idaho Steelheads. The match includes one of the most memorable goals in Condors history, scored by Paul Rosebush.

Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden Box Office, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. Season and group tickets may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden at 1001 Truxtun Ave.

Condors droppings: The Condors Coach's Show can be heard on Thursday night from 6-7:00pm on KGEO AM 1230, live from the Holiday Inn Select at 801 Truxtun Ave. This week's guests are Quinn Fair and Guy Dupuis, as well as Condors Head Coach Paul Kelly. Fans can tune in, call in with questions at 631-1230, or come out to the show, meet the players and win Condors prizes.
