Bullies' Henkel Named ECHL All-Star

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the East Coast Hockey League announced that rookie Jim Henkel will replace teammate Scott Matzka in the 2003 Compuware/ECHL All-Star Game at the TECO Arena in Estero, Fla., on Tuesday, January 21. Matzka is currently on the 30-day injured reserve list. Henkel, a native of Hazlet, N.J., is currently on a nine-game point scoring streak with 15 points on six goals and nine assists in nine games stretching from December 18, 2002 to January 11, 2003.

The 6-2, 190-pound forward is second on the team and sixth in the league in scoring among rookies with 35 points (18G,17A), is third in goals among rookies with 18, is tied for the league lead among rookies with three short-handed goals, and is second in the league among rookies in plus-minus with a plus-21.

Selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the eighth round (217th overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Henkel earned one American Hockey League call-up this season, playing two games with the Cleveland Barons.
