Kalamazoo, Mich - The Kalamazoo Growlers (5-3) came up short in today's game against the Lakeshore Chinooks (6-2) 5 to 1.

The Growlers Bats struggled to convert their seven hits into runs as they left runners stranded on base in numerous innings. Growler's Infielder John Rubino (Eastern Michigan University) extended his hitting streak to seven in Northwoods League play.

Starting pitcher Nick Wernke (West Virginia University) gave up two runs with four base on balls and five strikeouts in his Tuesday campaign occupying the mound for just four innings.

The Chinooks pitching staff was impressive on the bump, totaling 12 strikeouts. Chinooks pitching looked dominant throughout using four different pitchers to humble the Growlers offense.

Ball State infielder Ryan Spaulding was to only Growler to grab an RBI in his four at bats. Jesse Puscheck (Canisius College) was effective in the batter's box; Puscheck grabbed hits in both of his at bats.

Chinooks starter Michael Letkewicz (Augustana College) was given the win, allowing one run with four strikeouts in five innings pitched.

The Growlers have lost two straight games and look to reverse the tough stint tomorrow night June 4th against the Green Bay Bullfrogs (4-3).

The Growlers next home game is Friday at Homer Stryker Field against the Waterloo Bucks at 7:05 p.m.
