Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Tonight the Kingfish couldn't keep up with the hot hitting of the Madison Mallards. The game was close early on but the Mallards had an eight run eighth inning and went on to win 17-5.
Madison scored in almost every inning, starting in the first to put them up 1-0. They then went up 2-0 in the second thanks to two errors committed by the Kingfish. The Kingfish continue to struggle with errors, totaling six on the night.
Atop the fourth, Curtis Morgan came into relieve Kevin Dineen and faced eight batters and the Mallards extended their lead to 6-0. On the night, Morgan pitched three and two thirds innings and gave up eight hits, striking out one.
The Kingfish showed promise of a comeback in the bottom of the fourth. Pat Porter hit his second home run of the season, followed by two Kingfish walks with only one out. Taylor Douglas hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Brian Sisler and getting the RBI. Next up to the plate was Spencer Gaa who hit a walk off single last night to win the game. He continued his impressive hitting with a two-run homer to give the Kingfish four runs in the fourth. The final run for the Kingfish came in the seventh with Ratcliff hitting a sacrifice fly to score Howell.
Unfortunately, the Kingfish couldn't dodge the trouble in the eighth. The Kingfish faced 14 batters and the Mallards scored eight runs to put them up 17-5. The Kingfish struggled with pitching throughout the night and rotated through six pitchers, three of them in the eighth alone.
