Madison Mallards News Release

Kenosha, Wis. - Mallards starting pitcher Christian Taugner (Brown) gave up four runs in the fourth inning, but steady relief pitching from Charlie Naso (Illinois) and Nate Hoffman (Madison College), and an explosive eight run eighth for the Mallards gave the club their fourth win of the 2014 season over the Kenosha Kingfish by the score of 17-5.

The Mallards scored eight runs in the eighth, highlighted by an Alex Bacon (North Florida) triple to score Will Krug (Illinois) and Logan Regnier (Central Michigan), who had reached on singles. In addition to those two singles, the Mallards added four more base hits in the eighth and reaching base on three walks and one error.

The other Mallards runs came sporadically, but a four run fourth and two run fifth helped reverse their two game slide that had dropped them to 3-3. Bacon led the Mallards, going 4-for-5 with four RBI and three runs scored. Shortstop Michael Handel (Minnesota) chipped in four hits of his own and scored four runs.

The Kingfish and the Mallards will face each other tomorrow in Kenosha to wrap up the Mallards four game road trip. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm. The Mallards return to the "Duck Pond" on Wednesday, June 4th at 7:05 pm. That night is MINI of Madison Yoga Night featuring former WWE superstar Diamond Dallas Page and post-game yoga in the outfield.

Mallards single game tickets are on-sale now. To purchase tickets, log on to MallardsBaseball.com, call 608-246-4277, or stop by the Mallards ticket office.
