Grizzlies Fall to Wild Things in Series Opener

WASHINGTON, PA - The Gateway Grizzlies collected only five hits in a 4-2 loss against the Washington Wild Things Friday night at CONSOL Energy Park.

Landon Hernandez hit a second inning solo home run and Josh Adams drove in a run on a double in the eighth inning, but the Grizzlies went hitless from the third inning until the eighth inning in the loss.

Gateway (47-38) starting pitcher Tucker Jensen (8-4) took the loss despite allowing only two earned runs in his seven innings of work.

Washington (50-34) scored all four of their runs in the first three innings, including unearned runs in the first and second innings.

Kale Kiser went 2-for-4 with two doubles to lead the Grizzlies offense.

The Grizzlies and Wild Things series continues Saturday night at Washington. Right-hander Tyler Thompson (3-3) makes the start for Gateway at 6:05 CST.
