Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City - The Utah Grizzlies struggled once again to find the net and the Chicago Wolves took full advantage picking up a 5-1 decision at the 'E' Center in front of 7,638. Frederic Cassivi earned the win for the Wolves with 40 stops. It was the Grizzlies' tenth straight loss to the Wolves dating back to last season.

Chicago (23-14-6-3) began the night much like they did Friday's contest, scoring early and fending off Utah's staggering offense. Mike Weaver began the effort catching the net at the 3:40 mark. The Grizzlies could have done without the stroke of bad luck that followed at the 13:31 mark as Wolves center Kevin Doell flung the puck softly in the general direction of Utah netminder Dan Ellis and it was kicked inadvertently into the net by Grizzly Steve Gainey. Ellis finished with 34 saves.

Steve Maltais, who finished with two goals, added a third score for the Wolves at 17:56 of the second period and Brendan Yarema made the tally 4-0 at 6:41 of the third before Utah was able to answer. It was Jarrod Skalde who avoided the shutout, registering his 17th goal of the season at the 7:54 mark off a Tim Wedderburn assist. Steve Maltais would conclude the scoring for the Wolves on the power play at the 13:02 mark. Chicago went 2-for-4 on the power play.

The Grizzlies (14-25-4-3) will next host the division leading Grand Rapids Griffins in a two-game series on Friday and Saturday at the 'E' Center.
