
Grizzlies club six homers in beating Otters

Ryan Sullivan went 5-for-5 with and three homers, five RBI and scored five times as the Gateway Grizzlies hit six homeruns in defeating the Evansville Otters 13-5.
The Otters got a run in the first on an RBI single by Beau Blacken. After the Otters got a two-spot in the second to go up 3-0, Sullivan hit his first homer of the game in the bottom half of the inning off Otters' starter Ben Foster to make it 3-1.
The Grizzlies scored three in the third inning keyed by two homers, one off the bat of Shawn Smarsh and also Sullivan's second of the game to go up 4-3. Gateway would go on to score in every inning of the game putting up single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh. The Grizzlies scored four in the sixth and plated two in the eighth on the third homer of the game by Sullivan, tying the Frontier League record for long balls in a game.
In addition to Sullivan's three homers, Gateway got two from Smarsh and one from Brandon Averill in the sixth, which made it 10-4 Gateway.
Ben Foster (8-3) took the loss for the Otters while Brandon Smith (9-3) picked up the win for Gateway.
The series and roadtrip wraps up tomorrow as Andre Simpson (4-5) goes to the mound for the Otters against Nick Szczur for the Grizzlies. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. and can be heard on 91.5, WUEV.
