Traverse City Beach Bums News Release

UNDER WRAPS: Tarras Construction crews have wrapped the stadium with Tyvek Wrap, and in the process of doing so have created a whole new look for Wuerfel Park. The gable tops can be seen in the photo above, sitting on the ground in front of their appropriate towers. The shingling crews will finish their roofs while they are on the ground over the next several days. Team Elmer's will be back next week to lift them into place.

WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING? We hope you have taken a moment to visit our website (www.traversecitybeachbums.com) and check the headlines and news stories there. Newsletters allow us to share additional information and especially photos with you.

The project site continues to be a beehive of subcontractors, with everyone doing their own jobs, from electricians to plumbers to roofers and everyone in between. Northern Sprinkler Systems finished the initial installation of the irrigation system on the playing field Friday morning (8/05) and turned it over to a crew from Elmer's who went to work with their power rakes digging up stones from the top 10". Perfect Fence is hard at work on the privacy fence that will rim the perimeter of the stadium grounds. To date they have set about 400' of fence along the North property line (see above).

Kent Concrete has finished the seating risers and party decks and now have one crew cleaning everything up, with another crew building the forms for the dugouts tops. Please note our beautiful clubhouse pictured in the left background of the photo above, (Thank you! Kellogg's for the deck rail installation). The clubhouse will house home and visitors locker rooms & support areas on the first floor. The business offices for the Traverse City Beach Bums will soon be open on the second floor.

WHAT'S HAPPENING NEXT: The base layer of the playing field will be moved into place next week. Crews from Emch Brothers, who specialize in the athletic field installation, will be onsite to lay out the infield and build the pitcher's mound. Everything is being done to prepare the field for its topcoat of sod that will be laid (beginning) sometime around the 18th of August. The American Seating Company is sending their installer up to begin to prep the field for seat installation. We are expecting delivery of 3500+ chair back seats the third week in August. Siding crews will be moving back on-site to begin their large job of covering the stadium with Pacific Blue siding. All three will very visibly change the appearance of Wuerfel Park, both inside and outside. We invite you to watch the website for regular photo updates.

THANK YOU! We would like to once again express our thanks to the wonderful people of the Traverse City area who are wholeheartedly supporting the Beach Bums. We have received numerous letters of support from individuals who expect to be regular fans, but find a 48 night time commitment tough to fit into their summer schedule. We greatly appreciate each and every letter! Fans of all ages, shapes, sizes and time availability's are WELCOME!

Season Ticket requests are at 1560 as of Thursday evening (08/04). If you have not yet reserved your season tickets and would like to do so, please visit our website.
