
Sullivan powers Grizzlies past Otters

Ryan Sullivan turned in a record night for the Grizzlies Sunday night. Sullivan became the first Grizzlies player ever with 5 hits in a game. He also became the second with three home runs in the same game. He was 5-5 with five RBIs and five runs scored as the Grizzlies defeated the Evansville Otters 13-5 in front of 3,687 fans at GMC Stadium.
The Grizzlies are now 32-35 and have won five of their last six games. Evansville is 34-33.
Brandon Smith earned his ninth win of the year going seven innings. Smith gave up all five runs, just one of them earned. He struck out nine in the win.
Shawn Smarsh and Brandon Averill each turned in good nights for the Grizzlies. Smarsh belted a pair of home runs and was 3-6 with three RBIs. Averill was 1-3 with a three run home run. Phil Warren had the other RBI. He was 2-5 with two runs scored as well.
The Grizzlies and Otters will meet in the rubber match of the series Monday night at GMC Stadium. Game time is 7:05.
