Utah Grizzlies News Release
Kinasewich Update
With 13 points (nine goals, four assists) in the Grizzlies first five games, Kinasewich is now just 12 points away from overtaking Chris Taylor to become the team's all-time leading scorer. Kinasewich has 117 goals and 149 assists for 266 points in 185 games played with Utah. Taylor had 111 goals and 167 assists for 278 points in 278 games from 1994-1998.
The Man Scores Goals
With nine goals on the year, including three game-winners, Kinasewich leads the ECHL in both categories.
Leading The League
The Grizzlies currently lead the ECHL, averaging 5 goals-per-game, after putting up 25 scores in their first five games.
A Leader Besides Kinasewich
James Sixsmith leads the Grizzlies with seven assists and a plus-seven.
Five Other Guys Averaging At Least A Point A Game
Sixsmith (two goals, eight assists), Matt Caria (two goals, six assists), Dylan Hunter (three goals, three assists) and Vlady Nikiforov (one goal, five assists) are all averaging at least a point a game.
Everyone Is Scoring
The Grizzlies have had 15 skaters record at least a point this year.
Also Getting Good Goaltending
Grizzlies goaltender Parker Van Buskirk is 3-1 on the season and hasn't allowed more than three goals in any of his four starts this year. Overall, Van Buskirk has a 2.77 goals-against-average and a.900 save percentage.
Life Is A Highway
When the Grizzlies head for Boise Saturday, they will do so as one of only three current undefeated ECHL road teams. The Grizzlies are 3-0 on the road to start the year and have scored 20 goals in those three games. Kalamazoo and Elmira have also won every game away from their home rinks.
Steelheads Still Unbeaten
After going 2-0-0-1 this past weekend in Anchorage, the Grizzlies will get their second chance of the year to hand the Steelheads (7-0-0-1) their first regulation loss of the season in three meetings this week. Utah dropped two decisions to Idaho (3-2, October 23; 5-3, October 24) during their home opening weekend, despite leading in both games.
