Atlanta Gladiators News Release

Tied: Gwinnett forwards Tom Zanoski and Brad Schell sit tied for third in points in the league with 12, just two behind league leader Stefano Giliati of Reading, who has played in one more game.

Helpers: Brad Schell is the only player in the league with more than 7 points but no goals.

Streaking: Brad Schell has opened the 2009-10 season with a 7-game assist streak. He sits at 12 points-all assists-in the first 7 games, making him the league assist leader. Tom Zanoski and Pat Galivan are both on five-game point streaks. Zanoski, who is tied with Schell for most points on the team, and Galivan both have 3 goals and 5 assists on their current streaks.

Extratime: The Gladiators have played in five consecutive games that went beyond regulation time, two of which were decided in a shootout. The mark breaks the previous team record of four straight extra session games, which has occurred twice, once in the 2004-05 season from October 23 to October 30, and again in the 2007-08 season from December 28 to January 4.

Pulling Away: Brad Schell continued to widen the gap in all time Gladiators points between him and the next closest person to 64 points with three more assists last week. Jeff Campbell, who played with the Gladiators form 2004-2008, is the next closest on the list with 254 points. Schell now has 318 career points as a Gladiator.

Man-Advantage: The Gladiators are the second best team in the league on the power play. They are 14 for 47 with the man advantage, while league-leading Toledo is 14 for 46. Drew Paris is tied for the league lead with four power play goals.

Last Week's Games:

October 30, Gwinnett 5, Charlotte 6 - SOL

The Gladiators played in their fourth straight game that went beyond regulation, tying a team record. The Gladiators jumped out to their fourth straight multiple-goal first period lead, scoring two goals within the first four minutes with tallies from Matt Caruana and Chad Denny, but they would again squander the early advantage. Charlotte notched three consecutive goals in the period, and Gwinnett would add one more before the first period ended, setting a league mark for the season of 6 combined goals in the first period. The Gladiators would eventually lose in their second shootout of the season, as all three shooters were unsuccessful.

November 1, Gwinnett 4, Charlotte 3 - W

The Gladiators played in their team record-breaking fifth straight game that went into extra time. Gwinnett scored twice in less than three minutes in the third period to send the game to overtime, and Scott Mifsud picked up his second overtime goal of the season with 42 seconds left in the extra frame. Brad Schell extended his assist streak to 7 games with three assists, and Drew Paris scored his third straight power play goal in the winning effort.
