Griffins Welcome New Hires

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday announced the hiring of Jake Engel as a corporate sales account executive and Abbey Haji-Sheikh as the corporate sales fulfillment coordinator.
Engel is returning to the Griffins in a full-time role after having served as a corporate sales intern with the club during the 2015-16 campaign. Most recently, Engel was working as a ticket sales consultant with the West Michigan Whitecaps, where he assisted in booking group outings while maintaining and improving the team's client base.
A native of Saugatuck, Mich., Engel also has spent time working as an account executive for the USHL's Muskegon Lumberjacks. He earned a bachelor of business administration in sport management from Davenport University in 2015.
Having joined the Griffins' staff full time after serving as a group sales intern during the 2015-16 season, Haji-Sheikh now assists the corporate sales department by executing sponsorship agreements and managing the Griffins Kids Club.
A native of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Haji-Sheikh graduated from Grand Valley State University in August 2016 with a bachelor of science in communication. During her time at GVSU, Haji-Sheikh worked as a sports reporter for The Lanthorn and assisted in their hockey coverage.
