Albany Devils News Release

SYRACUSE, NY - In a game between the two top teams in the North Division, the Syracuse Crunch netted two late goals to down the Albany Devils, 4-2, Friday at the War Memorial Arena at Oncenter. The Devils lost for the first time this season when leading after two periods. The Crunch netted three third-period goals to erase a deficit and improve to 14-6-0-2. Albany moves to 13-10-0-1.

John Quenneville, who recently spent time with the New Jersey Devils between Nov. 30 and Dec. 6, netted his team-leading eighth goal of the season to give the Devils a 1-0 lead at 8:08. The tally, which featured a Jan Mandat assist, was Quenneville's team-leading 19th point and extended his point streak to seven games (4g-7a).

After Syracuse's Tanner Richard tied the game at 14:07 of the first, Blake Coleman found the back of the net from Blake Pietila at 11:04 of the second. Coleman now has points in six of the last nine outings, producing four goals and two assists.

From there, the Crunch took control during the third period. Adam Erne scored a power-play goal at 5:42 and Yanni Gourde netted the game-winner at 14:36. Erik Condra topped the scoring with an empty-netter at 18:42.

Ken Appleby suffered just his second loss of the season, despite making 28 stops. At the other end, Adam Wilcox turned aside 25 shots.

Next up, the Devils return to Times Union Center Saturday for a 5 pm contest against the Providence Bruins. The first 1,500 fans to arrive will receive an A-Devils Mini Stick. Fans are also encouraged to bring a stuffed animal to donate during the annual "Teddy Bear Toss."
