
Grichuk and Trout Homer Again as Kernels Sweep Cougars, 8-1

Cedar Rapids, IA - Randal Grichuk homered for the third game in a row and had four RBI as the Cedar Rapids Kernels completed a four game sweep of the Kane County Cougars by the score of 8-1 on Monday afternoon at Perfect Game Field. Mike Trout extended his hitting streak to eight games with a lead-off homer in the first and has hits in 21 of the 24 games he played this year.
Tyler Skaggs (1-1) allowed two hits over five scoreless innings for his first win and Tyler Kehrer allowed a run on five hits and struck out four over the final four inning for his first save. Justin Marks (0-3) allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits over six innings in taking the loss.
The Kernels rapped out 13 hits in the game. Luis Jimenez was 3-4 with a triple and RBI and Jean Segura and Kevin Ramos both went 2-4. Max Stassi had three of the Cougars seven hits and Rashun Dixon drove in the Cougars sole run on a solo HR in the seventh.
The win is the Kernels fifth in a row as them move to 13-12 on the season. Kane County falls to 11-14.
